Dwelling in the Word
You are invited to join us for Dwelling in the Word! We are a small group of adults who meet weekly to listen to the Word of God in a communal way; we engage with scripture being guided by the Holy Spirit to encounter God and Jesus. No previous Bible knowledge necessary! Come and dwell with us!
Kid’s Time AKA Sunday School
Growing in Faith
Matthew 19:14
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”
Meets on Sundays from 9:30 -10:30 AM during mid-September through mid-June for children ages 3 and older. Children experience Bible stories in various ways such as crafts, videos, storytelling, food, playing games, and making connections to our faith today. While students attend their class, parents can participate in our worship service in the sanctuary.
Confirmation
Confirmation is a faith formation process for young people, grade
6 and above, to grow in faith and to explore the promises made in
baptism. Students are encouraged to explore issues of faith and discipleship in ways that inform both the present and the future. Confirmation prepares students to participate more fully in the life and mission of the Church.
Vacation Bible School (VBS)
We share VBS with other churches. It is not held here at St. Michael’s. Children ages 3-12 are welcome whether your child is a long-time churchgoer or new to faith. Our VBS is designed to create a safe and inclusive environment where everyone can have fun learning about God. Friends are always welcome! Watch for our 2025 theme which will be determined in the spring. Here’s some 2024 memories:
Youth
Scouting America
St. Michael’s Lutheran Church is the chartering organization of multiple scout units. These units are an important part of our youth ministry serving the entire community.
Cub Scout Pack 1 serves boys and girls in grades K though 5, ages 5-11
Youth are grouped into Dens based on age or grade that meet weekly or semi-weekly. The entire Pack with their families meets once a month so the scouts can display what they have learned and enjoy skits, songs, and games. Other activities include weekend camping and overnight stays at varied venues such as historic sites, museums, baseball parks, and zoos; plus the traditional Pinewood Derby model car race, Blue & Gold Banquet, and Summer Camp. The Pack also performs community service such as road clean up and food drives. We also march in parades and visit local retirement/nursing homes for Christmas caroling and fellowship. Although the goal is to develop moral character and a sense of citizenship, the emphasis is on FUN.

Scout Troop 1 B consists of boys ages 11 to 18
Youth are are grouped into Patrols of mixed age and experience that meet weekly. Here the goal is to provide opportunities for boys to develop leadership skills, where individuals can advance at their own pace. They plan and run weekly meetings working on a wide variety of scouting skills while advancing in rank and stature; the older boys in leadership roles teaching newer members. In addition to passing on knowledge directly, senior boys set the example of respect and responsibility by living the Scout Oath and Law. Troop 1 B is boy-run. Adult leaders provide guidance and support in a variety of roles from Scoutmaster to Committee Member, or simply volunteering to help at a particular event. With an emphasis on the outdoors, regular activities include mountain biking, Klondike Derby, swimming, canoeing, fishing, parades, and of course plenty of camping. St. Michael’s is ready to form a Troop 1 G for girls as soon as enough interested girls can be assembled for a new unit.
